Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
The Best Game I have EVER PLAYED!!!!!!! SERIOUSLY
This game which came out in PS3 format in 2007, has been a part of a series for many years. It was developed and published both by Bethesda Softworks, and scores today on Metacritic a high and very deserving 93%, is a game that every role-playing fan, or curious person, should definitely play. Literally go buy it today, now, I don’t know why you are still reading this and not buying and playing this game and becoming a totally different person and living in Cyrodil? Ok, maybe I need to calm down a bit, but I don’t think so, I don’t think I am even excited enough about telling anyone who doesn’t already know about this game, about this game. If interested it is on sale at any EB GAMES for $17.99 used, a huge huge huge bargain, for what will be days upon weeks, upon months of play time, upon years of replay time.
In this game you can be any race from: human, elf, a tiger like character, and many other various races. You can become a mage, a fighter, a thief through joining a guild. You get to choose which star sign you are born under. What you look like right down to the height of your cheek bones. You get to eventually pick and wear endless items of clothing. Basically it is very user-friendly in terms of creating an AI version of you in this world of Oblivion.
This is a sandbox, role-playing game. Basically a huge game, where you can go anywhere, do pretty much anything, explore everywhere, water, caves, ruins, castles, towns, houses, huts, jails, churches, anything. And do so in a fantasy world, with fantasy characters surrounding you. There is an underlying main mission that you can tackle immediately or delay indefinitely. Basically this is a huge game where you can do endless amounts of things, and really be taken away into its fun.
I have never actually finished this game, I kind of think a big part of me wants to delay it, however you don’t need to do this, there are add ons, like Shivering Isles to expand this already enormous game. I have played this game many times already in under a year, as different people, seeking different goals, trying to meet various things, and in every experience, save for the opening story introduction, the experience is vastly different.
I have fought trolls, goblins, rats, crabs, ghosts, winged skeleton creatures, demon’s wicked creatures, frozen snow fiends, vampires, ghosts, necromancers, and guards. I have broken into houses, castles and caves, found magical rings (neat if you are a Lord OF The Rings Fan), endless amounts of gold, and amazing enchanted weaponry. I have read many neat books they have in the game, given to really add to your game, and help your character evolve and play a much wiser strategic game.
Speaking of these books I really do not know how in the heck they took all of this time to create them, there are really interesting stories, funny commentaries, intricate histories and many town guide books.
I have discovered this amazing, amazing Oblivion Website, it is the un-official website for all oblivion fans to visit, and in it they have a massive list of all the books to be found within the game, I had no idea there was this many, it makes me want to go and find every one.
Here is the site:
Here is also the official oblivion Ubisoft UK website which is equally good:
This game is so much fun, and I feel like you just need to go and play it, and write in about your experiences. I would love to hear about them. My favorite parts had to be robbing people, there was something in not getting caught by the many guards, and cracking tougher and tougher locks, and discovering the various contents inside, sometimes well worth the effort, sometimes grain was all that was hidden.
The other neat thing about this game, is you get to sleep, you get to wait, each saving your game, you get to work on your many many skills, including parlaying, with those around you, fighting, making spells, so many others, all to level up, I have read about how people have counted that it takes exactly ten skills achieved to go to the next level, basically I was playing hard and not counting, and leveling up as I could. And once you level up you get to choose the attributes of your character you want raised, be it intelligence, wit etc.
The game is endless, the options are endless, the map that comes within the game that I showcased above, looks exactly like that and is huge, I seriously wanted to hang mine up on the wall, but my partner said that was a bit too nerdy, I still want to though! The map is also within the game itself and new areas pop up as you discover them in the game, there are caves to discover, towns, sub towns, schools, churches, ruins, magical spots, like in one game that I played, I actually went inside a painting and played inside a paint world to rescue a towns-person. It was awesome!
Here are some videos I got from the net to showcase how amazing this game is:
This one above has no sound but really shows the detail and beautifully intricate graphics.
Here is another gameplay video:
This one also promotes the totally inspired score in the game, the musical score that is. (that was a corny set up by me) but its true. The music befits a journey in a magical land completely.
This next video shows how nicely the people voices and facial movements are displayed and also showcases a mission activity to do.
Finally I will end with the official game trailer for you all to enjoy:
I give this game 100 big smiles, 5 sleepy faces, and three wow why do I have to go to work sad-dies.
Also did I mention this game won game of the year?
YES IT DID!!
